December 2017 Christmas Theatre Trip

Members enjoyed an evening at the Sir John Mills Theatre Eastern Angles Christmas production 'The Ladykillers of Humber Doucy Lane', a great start to the festive period.

November 2017 Ten Pin Bowling

The inaugural Ten Pin Bowling event took place at Namco Funscape in Sproughton Road Ipswich. A fun evening was enjoyed by all with strikes and the occasional gutter shot!!!!

September 2017 Treasure Hunt

Manningtree was the location for this years Treasure Hunt organised by Roger Hayward and friends. The 79 clues led the intrepid Treasure Hunters from the Town to the Twin Towers and back. The event was well supported with 55 adults and 3 children enjoying the pleasant weather. Refreshments followed at the Brantham Bull where prizes were presented. Ian Manning's team were the overall winners on the day.

August 2017 Golf Day

'Wonderful weather, great company and the golf wasn't bad either' The annual IDEA Golf Day took place at Seckford Hall Golf Club and was attended by 27 members and guests. The golf was followed by a meal in the clubhouse and a presentation of prizes. This year saw the introduction of a Guest Trophy which was won for the first time by Ross Chambers. The IDEA trophy was won by Steve Gray. Many thanks to all those who donated prizes.

September 2012 Treasure Hunt

This year the Treasure Hunt took place in Needham Market and was organised by the Chairman and his wife, Eric and Angela Thorndyke. There were some 80 clues of all sorts and it took most, about two and half hours to complete including a stop for refreshments at one of the 'watering holes' in the town. It was a beautifully sunny warm day which every one enjoyed. The winners with most points were the Fordyce/Stokes team. The hunt was followed by a meal at the SORREL HORSE public house after which the prizes were distributed.

August 2012 Bowls Match

The annual Bowls match between I.D.E.A. and Eastern Electricity was played out at the Copdock Bowls Club and after a ‘close' fought contest EE ran out winners, yet again, and retained the Trophy for another year

July 2012 Golf Day

Twenty eight members and guests attend the golf day on 22 June at Wadlringfield Golf Club. The weather was blustery with some rain. The IDEA trophy was won by Ian Gleed. Following the golf a very nice 2 course meal was enjoyed by all.

September 2011 Treasure Hunt

This years Treasure Hunt was organised by Janet and Goff Corston and held in Saxmundham on the 11th September. The Weather was good and 39 participants took part. All enjoyed themselves hunting for the answers to the clues, some of which took a bit of thought and good eyesight to find. The team that was "most switched on" was the team lead by our chairman, Eric Thorndyke, who scored a magnificent 68 out of a possible 71 - Well done Eric and your team. After the Hunt most made their way to the Chequers at Kettleburgh for a very welcome barbecue meal and the presentation of the Treasure Hunt Cup to the winning team.

August 2011 Bowls Match
The annual Bowls match between I.D.E.A. and Eastern Electricity was played out at the Copdock Bowls Club and after a ‘close' fought contest EE ran out winners, yet again, and retained the Trophy for another year. A total of 30 players turned out on a pleasant summers evening enjoying good company, friendly rivalry and an excellent supper provided by the ladies from the Copdock Club. Our thanks to Martin Gilbert and his wife for organising the event, Copdock Bowls club for the use of their facilities and to all the sponsors who kindly donated prizes for the draw.

July 2011 Golf Day
This years Golf day was held at Waldringfied Golf Club on 17th June. 26 golfers somewhat struggled against very heavy rain and wind but I am pleased to report that all completed the 18 holes, some more successfully than others The winner of the IDEA Golf Cup was Peter Knox who scored a very good 39 Stableford points off a handicap of 21. (He is a member of Waldringfeild Golf Club so we assume he knew where on the greens to hit the ball to avoid some of the water!) The winning guest was Steve Chambers who scored a magnificent 43 points playing off a handicap of 23. After we had all "dried out" from our soaking, a good meal of pork chops and mushrooms was enjoyed by all.

May 2011 Visit to the New Wolsey Theatre
About 20 members and guests joined to see the TV-sitcom comedy Dinner Ladies. An enjoyable evening was had by all.

December 2010 Christmas Meal:
This year just under 30 members and guests gathered at the Rushmere Golf Club for a meal and for the younger ones the evening was rounded off with a disco.

September 2010 Treasure Hunt:
It was with regret that this has to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers applying to attend by the catering deadline date. This has always been a very popular event and the organisers put in a lot of work to construct the clues. It is hoped that we will be able to hold the event next year. There were many disappointed members this year.

August 2010 Bowls Match
The IDEA team assembled together with members of the Eastern Electricity Bowls Club at the Copdock Bowls club to a very wet evening hoping that the rain would stop long enough to play. After a while it was decided to abandon the game and enjoy the supper provided by the ladies of the Copdock Bowls Club. It was a very social gathering. Thanks Martin Gilbert for organising the event.

July 2010 Golf Day
The golf day at Waldringfield Golf Club, was a great success after a break of two years and one of the hottest days of the year. Chris Powell won the competition and retains the cup for a further year. Thanks to Geoff Corston for arranging the day

December 2009 Christmas Meal:
Members and guests met at the Golden Hind for a Christmas meal and the evening punctuated with an excellent head scratching quiz devised by one of our members, Stuart Hart.

September 2009 Treasure Hunt
This took place in Woodbridge. this year Sunday 6th and was devised by Eric and Angela Thorndyke and kept every one searching for the answers all afternoon in and around the town centre. The afternoon finished with an excellent meal at The Cherry Tree, Bromeswell.

August 2009 Bowl's Match
Held on Wednesday 26th August 2009 at Copdock. and was against the Eastern Electricity Board. Bowls Club. As is our usual form we again enjoyed coming a close second, even with our chairman playing for the opponents.

July 2009 Visit to Landgard Fort, Felixstowe.
Ghost Tour: was attended by 17 members and was an informative and entertaining spooky evening of stories of the history of the Fort..
